This distinctive composition features a deep forest-green background covered with oversized, flowing white loops and sweeping calligraphic gestures. The thick, pale marks contrast dramatically with the layered green surface, while long vertical paint drips introduce movement, rhythm, and texture. The result is a bold monochromatic composition that blurs the boundaries between writing, drawing, and painting.

Cy Twombly was an influential American artist renowned for his expressive brushwork, abstract gestures, calligraphic marks, and exploration of the relationship between language and visual art. Throughout his career, he developed a distinctive artistic vocabulary in which handwritten-looking forms become expressive visual elements rather than conventional readable text. In Note I, enlarged white loops create a powerful visual rhythm against the dark ground, recalling the spontaneous gestures of Twombly's celebrated blackboard paintings while demonstrating his later experimentation with fluid acrylic paint.

The artwork belongs to the three-part III Notes from Salalah series, created between 2005 and 2007. The series takes its name from Salalah, a coastal city in Oman, and explores calligraphic movement, color, and the expressive qualities of painted marks. Its looping forms have been associated with the visual character of printed Arabic script, offering a fascinating connection between writing, cultural references, and abstract expression. Rather than communicating through literal words, the painting invites viewers to experience its rhythm, texture, and sweeping gestures visually.

This III Notes from Salalah (Note I) by Cy Twombly poster offers a distinctive way to introduce contemporary abstract art into your home. Its deep green background and contrasting white marks complement modern, minimalist, industrial, and eclectic interiors. Display it in a living room, bedroom, home office, library, or creative studio. The bold composition makes an eye-catching statement on its own or as part of a curated gallery wall featuring modern paintings and expressive abstract prints.

Perfect for enthusiasts of abstract expressionism, gestural painting, calligraphic art, and contemporary wall decor, III Notes from Salalah (Note I) celebrates Cy Twombly's distinctive approach to visual language.
