Autunno by Cy Twombly, an expressive work of modern abstract art created between 1993 and 1995. Inspired by autumn, this striking composition features bold red and crimson brushstrokes, rich purple and burgundy accents, touches of yellow and green, and delicate handwritten marks against a pale background. Layered paint, spontaneous gestures, and flowing drips create a dynamic visual rhythm that evokes seasonal transformation while showcasing Twombly's distinctive approach to abstraction.

This artwork belongs to Twombly's celebrated Quattro Stagioni, or Four Seasons, series, which explores the relationship between nature, time, and artistic expression. Rather than presenting a literal landscape, the autumn composition uses expressive color, gestural lines, and handwritten inscriptions to evoke the atmosphere of the season. The combination of vibrant pigments and open space creates an engaging visual experience that moves between abstract painting and poetic expression.

Cy Twombly was an influential modern artist known for combining abstract expression, gestural drawing, calligraphic marks, and references to classical literature and poetry.
