The composition features a sweeping mass of intense crimson red, layered painterly marks, and darker reddish-black details against a warm, off-white background. Its expansive brushwork creates a strong sense of movement, while the contrast between the bold red form and the surrounding open space gives the artwork a dramatic, unmistakable presence.

This painting belongs to Twombly's celebrated Fifty Days at Iliam series, a ten-part cycle inspired by Alexander Pope's translation of Homer's ancient Greek epic, the Iliad. The works draw on the mythology and events of the Trojan War, transforming classical literary themes into expressive compositions through color, gesture, and abstraction. The title The Fire that Consumes All Before It evokes the destructive power of war, giving the expansive red brushstrokes an especially intense visual character.

Cy Twombly was an influential modern artist known for combining painterly gestures, abstract forms, and references to history and literature. His distinctive visual language emphasizes the energy of the creative process, allowing layered marks and spontaneous-looking strokes to communicate emotion without relying on literal representation. This framed art print brings that expressive approach into your interior with a polished, gallery-inspired presentation.

The premium wooden frame adds natural character to this Cy Twombly framed print, making it a striking addition to living rooms, bedrooms, home offices, hallways, studios, and curated art collections.
