Untitled (Peonias Series) by Cy Twombly – Abstract Expressionist Framed Art Print
Discover Untitled (Peonias Series) by Cy Twombly, a striking work of modern abstract art created in 2007. This expressive composition features bold crimson-red and scarlet flower forms against a luminous golden-yellow background. Spontaneous brushstrokes, layered pigments, and long cascading paint drips create a sense of movement, texture, and visual energy. The contrast between the rich red blossoms and the radiant yellow ground gives the painting a dramatic presence, making this Cy Twombly framed art print an exceptional choice for enthusiasts of Abstract Expressionism, contemporary floral art, and colorful modern wall decor.
Cy Twombly was an influential American artist renowned for his experimental approach to painting, expressive drawing, and unconventional mark-making. His work frequently explores connections between classical mythology, ancient history, literature, poetry, and human emotion. Through spontaneous gestures, handwritten inscriptions, and layered colors, Twombly developed a distinctive artistic language that blurs the boundaries between painting and drawing. His innovative approach continues to inspire admirers of modern art who appreciate expressive brushwork, symbolic imagery, and the poetic possibilities of abstraction.
Created in 2007, Untitled (Peonias Series) belongs to Twombly's celebrated Peony Blossom Paintings, a group of large-scale works developed in Gaeta, Italy, during late 2006 and early 2007. Inspired by the beauty of peonies and the traditions of Japanese art and poetry, the series brings together expressive floral imagery, vivid pigments, and the physical movement of paint. In this composition, oversized red blossoms emerge against a glowing yellow background, while vertical drips extend downward across the surface. The freely painted floral forms balance recognizable natural imagery with abstract expression, transforming the peony into a compelling subject of color, rhythm, and artistic contemplation.
